Sitting just behind Marbella in Granada are the Sierra Nevada mountains – stretching up to 3478m (11,411ft) above sea level – the highest point in Spain.
The resort is a popular tourist destination and is well known as one of Europe’s most southerly ski resorts, despite sitting on the Mediterranean coast – an area usually known for it’s sunny weather.
If you like skiing and sun there there aren’t many places like Sierra Nevada. It’s one of the only ski-resorts worldwide where you can ski in the morning and sun bathe on the beach in the afternoon!
