Remember the fallen

Lest we forget
Lest we forget

Poppy Appeal – Now in its 90th year.

At the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 an end was called to hostilities and World War I was officially over. A year later on 7 November 1919 King George V dedicated the 11th as a day of remembrance of members of the armed forces who were killed during World War I.

These days 11/11 is a reminder of all losses in battle for the British armed forces in conflicts around the globe since the end of the first world war and ex-pats around the world will remember. Unfortunately, due to recent and continuing conflicts the number of fallen British soldiers continues to rise.

For those of you who will be in Spain on 11/11 poppies are available in many ex-pat bars and shops along the Costa del Sol including Fuengirola and Marbella.

There will be a poppy collection in Estepona port this Sunday.

An Armistice Day Service will be held on November 11th at the Don Pablo Hotel in Torremolinos.

Gibraltar will mark the occasion with a special service to be held by the war memorial on Line Wall Road. The service will take place on Sunday 13th at 11:45am.

11/11 – Lest we forget.
