Friday-Ad Spain is to end its print edition, after nine years of publication, to concentrate on it’s online operation.
The magazine, based in Mijas, covers the Costa del Sol and Gibraltar with local news and events. The last edition will be printed on October 7 due to a tough 2011.
The Friday Media Group, which owns the publication, owns a further 80 classified websites around the world.
Speaking to the Olive Press, Friday-Ad Spain’s manager Dawn Charlton said “It has been the aim for nearly two years to go online-only, that is what we have been working towards,”.
“The Gibraltar edition ended on August 5 and the Costa del Sol edition will run for the last time on October 7.”
One of the coast’s main newspaper’s – who cannot be named for legal reasons – have implied that Friday-Ad had gone bust which Dawn strenuously denies.
A press release stated: “We are all very excited about the future and want to reassure you that we are still in the same office, with the same staff and the same contact numbers as ever.”
